Swimming lessons for kids in Montpellier — the warm-water way

Living in the south of France means beaches, pools and rivers all summer long — so a child who truly swims is not a luxury, it is peace of mind. Our lessons take place in Montpellier's only children-only pool, heated to 33 °C, in small groups, with a state-qualified instructor in the water — not on a chair at the edge.

The journey

From water confidence to real swimming

Ages 3–6 · Water confidenceThe foundation years

Putting the face in the water happily, blowing bubbles, floating on the back, gliding, jumping in and returning to the edge — the survival skills that matter most, learned through play.

Ages 6–8 · First strokesBecoming a swimmer

Front crawl and backstroke first (the modern, efficient order), breathing technique, growing distances — head in the water, body horizontal, confidence high.

Ages 8–10 · Strong swimmersRange and endurance

All four strokes, diving, treading water, longer swims — children who are genuinely safe and happy in any pool, and ready for the sea.

Started late? No shame and no problem: 8–10-year-old beginners progress remarkably fast, and our groups mix age and level so nobody is ever "with the little ones".

Why it works

Warm water changes everything

  • 33 °C means relaxed bodies — and relaxed bodies float, glide and learn. Cold, crowded public pools teach tension first; we skip that entirely.
  • The instructor is in the water, at arm's reach: guiding hands, instant reassurance, technique corrected gesture by gesture.
  • Small groups, one weekly session, September to June — steady rhythm beats crash courses for lasting skills. Holiday intensive weeks exist too, ideal for a boost.
  • A consistent method: every instructor holds a French state diploma and is trained in the Eden Kids teaching method — same pedagogy whatever the day.

Fees are on a flexible monthly membership, cancellable anytime; details on request. Lessons are taught in French — full of gestures and demonstration — which most expat children absorb effortlessly, and our team happily debriefs with you in English.
