Baby swimming ("bébés nageurs") is one of France's best-loved early-childhood activities — and Montpellier's cosiest place to do it is here. Our pool is reserved exclusively for children and heated to 33 °C, so your baby discovers water warm, calm and smiling, in your arms, guided by a state-qualified instructor in the water with you.

What a session looks like

Gentle, playful — and surprisingly effective

You are in the water together: one parent (or grandparent!) per baby, guided step by step — no experience needed, and non-swimmer parents are welcome, you always have your footing.
Songs, toys, floating mats and gentle immersions — always at your baby's pace, never forced.
Real benefits: water confidence that lasts, motor development, better sleep on swim days (parents' favourite side effect), and a precious one-to-one moment in a busy week.
Small groups so the instructor knows every baby by name.

Sessions run weekly from September to June, including Sunday mornings. The pool reopens for the 2026 back-to-school season after a complete renovation — pre-registration is open now, and Saturday baby slots are always the first to fill.

What to bring: a swim nappy, a towel, and a relaxed parent. Changing rooms are fully equipped for babies. Prices on request.

FAQ — English-speaking parents

The questions we hear most

Will my baby learn to swim?

Not yet — and that is normal. Under 3, the goal is joyful water confidence: floating with support, gentle immersion, loving the water. It is the best possible foundation for real swimming lessons from age 3.

Does the instructor speak English?

Our team is used to international families and will make sure you always understand what is happening — and in the water, smiles and demonstration do most of the talking anyway.

My baby has never been in a pool. Is 6 or 10 months too late to start?

Not at all — babies start with us anywhere between 4 months and 3 years. The earlier the easier, but every age has its own lovely way in.

How warm is 33 °C really?

Bath-warm. It is the single biggest difference with public pools: babies relax instead of tensing up, and sessions can be calm and long enough to be worth it.
